Karin AndersonKarin Anderson

Karin Anderson is a mixed media artist. She was born and raised in Port Angeles and began drawing, painting and creating things from wood, paper and fabric at an early age. She graduated from Port Angeles High School with honors in art and went on to receive a BFA degree from Pacific Lutheran University in Tacoma, focusing on drawing, painting and graphic design. She worked as a graphic designer in Seattle for 10 years.

Karin is always eager to experiment and try something new. Since moving to Sequim in 2002 she has been working in watercolor, acrylic, pastel and gouache in both contemporary realism and abstract forms. She uses color, texture, line and repetition to create a mood or tell a story in her work. She loves to mix media, especially fluid acrylics and pastel. In the last 2 years she has also added collage and assemblage to the mix. Recycled wood, metal, wire, fabric and textured papers have made their way into her paintings.

Volunteering in her kid’s art classes at school has also kept her creative energy going strong. Sharing the creative experience with kids of all ages has been a passion. She continues to volunteer her time at Sequim High School in the AP Studio Art class and with Sequim Art’s annual student art show.

Karin is a member of Sequim Arts where she has exhibited her work in both Member’s and Juried Shows. She is also a member of the Blue Whole Gallery, where her work is currently shown. She has exhibited at The Northwind Gallery in Port Townsend and the Port Angeles Fine Art Center.
