In addition to being an attendee at this new and exciting festival, there was an opportunity for you to be a participant as well. Some exciting contests were held.

Competitive Table Setting. This contest was based on the Food Network show “Chopped” where three contestants had a picnic basket full of table setting objects. They will be timed and the winner of the best table setting was decided by People’s Choice. The competitors for this event were Loren Johnson, Key Hays and Mary Budke. Mary Budke won the “Best Table Setting” prize.

Candy Wrapping.  How good are you at wrapping? Three contestants were tasked to wrap some slippery “candy” facsimiles, in a timed competition. The competitors were Deborah Rambo Sinn, DJ Bassett and Dave McInnes. The winner was Deborah Rambo Sinn.

There were opportunities to put estimation skills to work and win prizes. These contests were

• Vegetable Weight, Mary Hoover was within 1 pound of guessing the correct weight, which was 166 lbs
• Sunflower Seeds, Magdalena Bassett won with her guess of 47,444. The actual count was 43,756
• Candy Corn, Terry Gross won the candy corn guessing by 86

The Best Decorated Booth was “The Lodge at Sherwood Village”.
